It's a Shore Thing
Transform your canoe into a table for two. Celebrate the catch-of-the-day and an impromptu getaway without ever leaving the shoreline.

What You'll Need
Tools
Materials
- 1 x 6 x 4' fence boards (6): cedar or brown pressure treated
- 2 x 6 x 8' cedar or brown pressure treated
- 1-1/2" #10 brass screws (24) 2180-829
- semi-transparent stain (shown Natural Cedar)
Here's How
- Cut 2 x 6 into 4' lengths.
- Set the boards along the gunnel of the canoe and scribe the taper onto the boards.
Cut along the line with a jigsaw and sand smooth. (Note: If the centre seat interferes with the boards fitting below the gunnel, cut and adjust the boards to fit).
- Space the two 2 x 6 boards so they will fit inside the gunnels with a 1/2" clearance.
- Starting in the centre of the space, fasten the 1 x 6 fence boards with screws.
- Cut off the excess of the 2 x 6 boards.
- Turn the table over and mark the gunnel profile 2" beyond the 2 x 6 boards. Cut off with jigsaw.
- Sand and stain.
Celebrate the catch-of-the-day and an impromptu getaway without ever leaving the shoreline. Waterside dining doesn't get any better than this!
